SARASOTA, FL, October 23, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- What is better than listening to a 50 piece professional concert band playing adventurous, stimulating and entertaining music? Viewing the matching artwork in downtown galleries where specific pieces have been matched with each musical selection!

The Glenridge Performing Arts Center presents a Sarasota Concert Band performance with "The Magic of Music and ART" on November 17th where each musical selection has been paired with a piece of artwork in one of six downtown art galleries: Palm Avenue Fine Art (10 Palm Ave.), Dabbert Gallery (76 Palm Ave.), Galleria Silecchia (20 Palm Ave.) Hodgell Gallery (46 Palm Ave.), Stakenborg Fine Art (1545 Main St.) and Art Uptown (1367 Main St.).

At the concert, audiences will enjoy seeing images of the artwork that match the musical selections on the program, which include such pieces as "Scenes From the Louvre" (Dello Joio), "Hymn to Red October" (Poledouris), and "Blow, Gabriel, Blow" (Porter). They will hear exciting selections such as "Big Band Bash - Artistry in Motion" (Lowden) and "Selections from Annie -The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow" (Strouse). They will be inspired by original band works such as "A Jubilant Overture" (Reed) and "Allegro Giusto" (Sherrill).

"People love concert band music because it's invigorating, energizing and refreshing", says William Barbanera, Artistic Director. "It can be classical, sing-able or even jazzy. There's something for everyone so they leave feeling great about life."

Audiences may visit the downtown art galleries any time before(or after) the concert, viewing the visual art that matches the musical art.

Music and art join together on Saturday, November 17th, at the Glenridge Performing Arts Center, 7333 Scotland Way, in Sarasota. The concert starts at 8 pm. The cost is $15 with reserved seating. Tickets are available at the door and online at http://www.GPACtix.com.

Sarasota Concert Band is one of the "Top 5" professional concert bands in the world with Ringling roots back to 1925. As a 50 piece wind and percussion ensemble, our mission is to entertain Sarasota audiences so that they feel good about life. (941-364-2263). http://www.SarasotaConcertBand.org.
