Therese A. Devine Inducted into Cambridge Who's Who Executive, Professional and Entrepreneurial Registry

Ms. Devine feels that keeping up with the changes in technology and best practices in teaching are the most important issue facing her profession today.



    LYNN HAVEN, FL, January 2, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Therese A. Devine, Teacher for New Horizons Learning Center, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of education.

With more than 15 years of professional experience, Ms. Devine is responsible for teaching reading and mentoring students and teachers. Prior to joining New Horizons Learning Center, she worked as an Exceptional Student Education (ESE) teacher and served as department chairwoman for Everitt Middle School, was exceptional as a Support Facilitator for the core academics, and taught all subject areas. Additionally, she taught the other Everitt students Math using technology, and was a team facilitator for the SERVE program for Bay District Schools. She has made a difference in student test scores while teaching ESE students and co-teaching core academics at Pensacola High School. She stays current with the trends in her profession by teaching training workshops, attending training programs, reading industry-related publications and participating in mentorship programs.

Ms. Devine is pursuing her Doctorate Degree Leadership in Educational Administration K-12, with Capella University. She received her Master of Arts in Education specializing in Clinical Teaching and her Bachelor of Science in Business Teacher Education from The University of West Florida. She attained her Specialist Degree in Literacy and Reading from NOVA Southeastern University this past summer and considers this to be the highlight of her career. She is a national trainer for the Center for Teacher Effectiveness (CTE), a Content Area Reading Professional Development (CAR-PD) facilitator for Just Read Florida, and a certified field trainer for Families Building Better Readers (FBBR) and Mysteries in the Middle (MnM). She was nominated among her peers and school district for: Teacher of the Year (2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- and Reading Teacher of the Year for Just Read Florida (2008). She is her School Representative for the Bay County Reading Association (BCRA), a member of Florida Secondary Reading Council (FRA), Secondary Literacy Council (SLiC), Secondary Reading Council of Florida (SRCFL), Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), National Education Association (NEA), Florida Education Association (FEA), Florida Reading Association (FRA), Association of Bay County Educators (ABCE), Time-to-Teach Associate-Center for Teacher Effectiveness (CTE), and the Assembly on Literature for Adolescents of NCTE (ALAN). She feels that keeping up with the changes in technology and best practices in teaching are the most important issue facing her profession today. She attributes her success to her personal drive, diligence, and "Devine" attitude. She hopes to open her own technology school or teach at the university level in the future.
