/24-7PressRelease/ -- Train Aid will continue to run its courses through the Highfield Awarding Body of Compliance (HABC) in order to fall in line with new government legislation. The new legislation will affect the nation's
emergency first aid at work course, which run throughout the UK on a weekly basis. The Ofqual registration system will replace the antiquated HSE approval scheme, which was considered insufficient for the modern world of training. The government instead now favour the Ofqual model, which should open up the marketplace, and give a greater level of flexibility to UK businesses.
High standards have been maintained on courses through the HSE approval mechanism. This required companies to meet a nationally recognised standard when delivering training courses. The actual process was in fact quite costly for the consumer, and potentially limited their course selections. The recent Lord Lofsted report was initiated by the government, and concluded that the HSE approval system should be removed for the benefit of all.
What this means is that from April 2013 any business or individual can choose a training provider from anywhere in the marketplace. Naturally this increases their choice and opens up the marketplace to new providers. Organisations from this date will simply need to select a suitable training organisation that can provide a course from an experienced & qualified instructor.
Many training providers are concerned that standards could actually end up falling within the industry. The problem lies in the fact that theoretically anyone can now provide an
emergency first aid at work course and claim the content to be reputable. More and more companies like Train aid are becoming Ofqual registered to prove that their training meets a certain standard. It looks like it will replicate and replace the old HSE approval scheme. Train Aid's Bill Casserley was on hand to provide his view point:
"Everyone within the industry was understandably concerned when the review was published from Lord Loftsed. However after having some time to deliberate over the findings I think it all makes sense. The most important people within the industry are the consumers who are purchasing the courses. This new system gives them more flexibility and will ultimately save them more money."
