With a growing interest in Spanish culture, Latin America locations are some of ABV's most requested programs. Due to overwhelming volunteer response, ABV has recently completed expansion in the number of programs it offers its clients in Latin America. Project locations include Cusco, Peru; Quito, Cuenca and the Amazon in Ecuador, northern Chile, La Ceiba, Honduras and the coastal towns of Costa Rica.
A Broader View Volunteer Corp makes volunteering abroad possible for people with limited time. They provide their participants the opportunity to immerse themselves in a new culture while making a real difference in people's lives. Programs range from 1 to 24 weeks. A Broader View Volunteer programs are open to people of all ages and backgrounds. Volunteers are given customized placements based on their skills and interests, and work side-by-side with local people on community-led initiatives. Volunteers work with orphans, disadvantaged street children, the elderly, people with special needs like HIV/AIDS or mental or physical disabilities, with environmental and conservation and animal welfare causes.
"Many people are searching for a way to really make a difference," says Sarah Comitale, Executive Director of ABV. "We give people the change to discover that volunteering overseas is no longer just a dream, but something they can actually do."
An A Broader View program includes orientation with in-country expert staff. Participants are provided room and board with a local host family and given project support and briefing which provides insight into the culture and community where they volunteer. Volunteers pay their own airfare and a U.S. tax-deductible program fee to A Broader View Volunteers to cover all in-country expenses.
