"My commitment to the community has been very strong, but I look forward to getting more involved with the UACDC and their partner's coalition with the leadership of Dan Jurman and Gene Marshall. I believe it will help me be a better person for Tampa Bay."
The Tower of Achievement Award winner, Chloe Coney, has been a stalwart in the East Tampa community for more than 30 years. Her efforts have led the way in the revitalization of troubled neighborhoods. "I am so honored and grateful to receive this award. When many saw our community blighted, we saw our community with neighbors helping neighbors, children graduating from high school and going to college and new homes and apartments being built. It is a blessing to have CDC's like UACDC, CDC of Tampa, Inc. and others to be a catalyst for change," Coney said.
Each nominee and winner has done something extraordinary for his or her community, standing out among the rest to qualify for such an exemplary award.
"These individuals and organizations are truly making a positive impact in Hillsborough County," said Dan Jurman, executive director and CEO of UACDC. "Working together, we can continue to make a difference and focus on improving the lives of the residents in our communities."
