ORLANDO, FL, February 05, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- US poker sites are having trouble processing credit cards on a large scale. This has been reported to affect all major credit cards. This may be for several reasons such as technical issues, but the likely culprit are UIGEA pre-enforcement measures. For years after the UIGEA was passed, credit cards were used with surprisingly high acceptance rates, but it appears that credit card issuers are now denying transactions with online poker rooms and casinos. Fortunately, there are alternative deposit options for US players that even allow the use of credit cards in some cases.

EwalletXpress Deposits
EwalletXpress is an electronic wallet (e-wallet). It is basically an online account where you can deposit money, then transfer that money to and from poker and casino sites that accept the EwalletXpress deposit options. Since this method is not a direct deposit with the poker and casino sites, it allows the use of credit cards.

Echeck Deposits
Echecks are reportedly still working. They have been a favorite alternative to credit card deposits for some time now. Echecks are also known as electronic checks, which allow you to directly deposit to any poker site that accepts them.

The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) is the likely cause to this issue. This act was buried in a port security bill which passed in 2005. Despite its name, the act does not make internet gambling illegal. Instead, it takes aim at depositing methods that are commonly used by US players for online poker and casino sites. The act has only recently begun to take effect on some of the depositing methods. The enforcement of the act was delayed 6 months from its original date of enforcement of Dec 2009. It is assumed that these credit card companies are voluntarily complying with the act and denying any deposits to these online poker and casinos sites.
