RYE, NY, September 06, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Announced today by VARTA Microbattery, a global leader in the design, manufacturing and marketing of high-technology power pack solutions for the industrial, medical and communications industries, is the availability of the VARad Li-ion rechargeable electric bike battery pack. This new off-the-shelf battery pack is designed exclusively for pedelec (pedal electric cycle) and e-bike kit manufacturers requiring fast access to safe, robust and longer life cycle bike battery packs. The UL and RoHS certified VARad Li-ion electric bike battery pack is the latest offering from VARTA Microbattery's CellPac BIKE battery division. ---
Engineered to provide the utmost in performance and reliability, VARad high-performance battery packs boast integrated control electronics to enable optimal operation at high efficiency, and protection from unsafe usage. They provide accurate fuel gauging to indicate how much power remains in the battery, along with active cell balancing to ensure each cell is evenly charged and discharged as well as to maximize power output from each charging cell. The power packs also feature safe-use software, which automatically protects batteries against damage from charge or discharge in unsafe operating conditions, and flexible power output to make certain the bike battery packs satisfy high peak- and constant-power requirements.
The high performance properties of the VARTA batteries enable the battery pack to power a pedelec longer than any other pedelec battery pack currently available. Comprised of 36.5V 14.50Ah Li-ion rechargeable batteries, VARad battery packs notably provide a high continuous discharge current of 25A and a peak current of 30A. Most competitors' pedelec power packs provide only 14A to 15A continuous discharge currents and peak currents of 20A. The high discharge rate of the VARTA batteries allows the pack to power the motor easily, with its constant power up to 500W and peaks of 1000W.
VARTA Microbattery's VARad high-performance battery packs are charged using the CC/CV (constant current-constant voltage) or CC/CC (constant current with voltage limitation) charging methods. Packs weigh approximately 7.7 lbs (3.5 kg), and fully comply with UN 38.3 regulations to ensure the safety of lithium batteries during shipping.
