BAYTOWN, TX, October 5, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Velma J. Ansley-Nelson, Retired Administrative Assistant from the Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in educational administration.

Prior to her retirement, Velma J. Ansley-Nelson gained nearly 50 years of professional experience in the field of education. During her tenure with the Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District, she was responsible overseeing all administrative duties and secretarial services, processing payroll, assisting students and monitoring staff. Ms. Ansley-Nelson notes that a love for education prompted her to become involved in her profession and is happy to report that, despite being retired, she maintains a close relationship with the school district.

Dedication and familial support have always been the keys to Ms. Ansley-Nelson's success. In fact, she was the first woman to serve two terms as town councilwoman in 1960. Currently, she serves on a local board to raise funds for hurricane victims.

Valedictorian of her graduating class, Ms. Ansley-Nelson holds an associate of arts, earned in 1949. In recognition of excellence in her field, she was named Professional of the Year in Educational Administration by Cambridge Publishing in 2008. Ms. Ansley-Nelson is a member of the Texas Parent Teachers Association and the Teacher Retirement System of Texas. She is an active supporter of the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, and contributes generously to the Police Scholarship Fund and the United Way.
