YORKTOWN, VA, March 20, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/
-- The Virginia Veterinary Medical Association (http://www.vvma.org/), a professional organization of veterinarians dedicated to bettering the quality of human and animal life through veterinary medicine, has announced that board member Dr. Samuel Tate is the recipient of the Peninsula Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) 2012 Volunteer of the Year Award. This award distinguishes the volunteer who has contributed the most to the MRC through training, responses, exercises and special projects.
Dr. Tate was recognized for his extraordinary contributions in organizing pet shelter teams, performing 383 rabies clinic vaccinations. He went above and beyond in providing opportunities that make a difference in both public health initiatives and safety within the community, while also filling gaps in public health initiatives and local preparedness. Dr. Tate is the Greater Peninsula's representative for the VVMA Board of Directors, and the VVMA representative for the board of the Virginia State Animal Response Team.
"It is with great pleasure that we announce Dr. Samuel Tate's incredible achievement," said Robin R. Schmitz, executive director of the VVMA. "We are proud to have Dr. Tate as a member of our organization, and applaud him for his devotion to protecting animals."
