Don't just put up with TMJ pain-let Dr. Karisha Lynn Madden stop it in its tracks.

BELLAIRE, TX, December 24, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- TMD, temporomandibular joint and muscle disorder, causes pain and movement issues in the jaw and corresponding muscles, and it affects an estimated 10 million Americans. There are still some unknowns about TMJ's etiology; however, regardless of whether arthritis or injury is the suspected culprit, you don't have to suffer through TMJ pain. Dr. Karisha Lynn Madden, dentist in West University, understands how uncomfortable TMJ can be, and offers treatment for this condition, leaving you with less of an ache in your jaw.

"I see a host of patients with TMJ, from those with mild discomfort to those who have dislocated jaws and debilitating pain. Some with TMJ even find it difficult to eat," says Dr. Madden, West University, TX dentist. "My goal is to be able to treat anyone's TMJ, no matter what the severity, and give them some normalcy."

For more minor TMJ sufferers, muscle relaxants, aspirin, biofeedback or wearing a small mouth apparatus while sleeping are some of the standard treatments. And these standard treatments have shown to be extremely helpful. There are always traditional methods to consider before turning to surgery, and Dr. Madden hopes to make treatment as easy as possible for her patients. Fortunately, the majority of TMJ patients can treat their condition without the need for surgery. "I find physical therapy to be a successful way to treat TMJ," says Dr. Madden, West University dentist. "From biofeedback to stretching exercises, I've found that physical therapy can be a blessing for someone suffering from TMJ."

However, for more severe cases-where there are misaligned joints or dislocated jaws-treatment needs to be more aggressive. "When TMJ symptoms are more serious and biofeedback isn't providing as much relief as it should, I often recommend surgery," says West University dentist, Dr. Madden. "However, TMJ surgery can sometimes be done arthroscopically, which is less invasive and speeds up the recovery process."

You shouldn't live with the pain--you should fight it with the best methods offered at Dr. Madden's practice. If you suffer from TMJ, don't wait any longer to treat the symptoms. To ease your TMJ pain and get you back on the path to a healthy mouth, contact Dr. Madden, dentist in West University, at (713) 667-8080, or at http://www.doctormadden.com. Dr. Madden and her dental team look forward to helping new and past patients alike regarding their TMJ treatment.
