Worldwide Branding Names Patience C. Onuoha Professional of the Year in Internal Medicine

Dr. Onuoha fulfilled her passion for helping people by becoming a doctor

Dr. Onuoha has 10 years of experience as an attending physician and hospitalist

SPRINGFIELD, MO, February 12, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Patience Onuoha, President and CEO of Patience C. Onuoha, DO PC, has been named a Worldwide Branding Professional of the Year in Internal Medicine. While inclusion in Worldwide Branding is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Branding membership.

Dr. Onuoha has 10 years of experience as an attending physician and hospitalist for Patience C. Onuoha, DO PC. In the course of her duties, she manages admissions, in addition to diagnosing and treating patients. She also performs medical procedures, consulting with other medical sub-specialists to prepare for procedures and determine the best course of action for treating her patients. On occasion, she delivers medical presentations to present her findings from cases.

Dr. Onuoha has possessed the natural traits of integrity, humility, and determination since childhood, which laid a strong foundation for her to practice medicine. As a result of her love for science, she attended Western Kentucky University and graduated with a double major in chemistry and biology in less than three years. She developed a strong desire to practice medicine during her second year at Western Kentucky University. After her father, Nze Innocent Onuoha, died from cardiomyopathy that year, she made a decision to go into nursing while receiving her medical school education at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She succeeded in working as a nurse while funding her medical school education during that time. She became enamored by the field of internal medicine when she discovered, as a third-year medical student, that the physician who lectured about nephrology was an internist, not a nephrologist.

Once she began her exploration of the field, Dr. Onuoha realized how broad and versatile internal medicine was, and that she wanted to further explore the field. The more she learned, the more she was fascinated. Dr. Onuoha moved on to complete a residency program in internal medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She often quotes Helen Keller and says, "Believe, when you are most unhappy, that there is something for you to do in the world, so long as you can sweeten another's pain, life is not in vain." She believes in doctoring without limits while helping human beings achieve goals of value for their fellow neighbors. She makes contributions to charity and goes on foreign missionary trips, delivering aid as a physician to people in different countries. She recently developed her own professional corporation. She stands out because of strong clinical skills, training, listening to the patients, and empathy. Her greatest career achievement is having her own company, and being a contractor for different hospitals.

Dr. Onuoha completed a residency in internal medicine from New Jersey Medical School, UMDNJ, Newark, and she has earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. In addition to her degrees, she has received a board certification in internal medicine an osteopathic license, a teaching certification, and a certification in advanced cardiac life support. She is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, and the American Osteopathic Association. In recognition of her talent and dedication, she received a Board of Trustees Scholarship from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and an Honorable Citizenship Award from The Mayor of Bowling Green, KY. To benefit others, she contributes to local schools for autistic children, and volunteers at The Give 5 Campaign for the American Cancer Society. She also serves as a volunteer physician for mission trips; she has just recently returned from one such trip to India. In years to come, Dr. Onuoha hopes to complete her personal memoir, and expand and strengthen the infrastructure of her personal corporation, which has allowed her to practice at many hospitals throughout the nation independently.

Dr. Onuoha has personally donated more than $12,000 to revitalize and rebuild Ihiagwa Secondary School, a school that her late father had originally assisted in building, while galvanizing others to join in on the fundraising. While her father was alive, he donated the first musical organ to Saint John's Anglican Church, in Ihiagwa. In 2012, through her donations of more than $7000 in instruments to St. John's Anglican Church, Dr. Onuoha has been able to honor her father's memory and the values of hard work, determination and education he had instilled in her.
