CLIFTON HILL, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA, June 1, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Frank G. Fisher, professor of sustainability at Swinburne University of Technology, has been named a Worldwide Who's Who Professional of the Year in sustainability education. While inclusion in Worldwide Who's Who is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Who's Who membership.
Mr. Fisher has 35 years of experience in environmental education, with two years of experience as professor of Sustainability at Swinburne University of Technology. He is committed to social transformation to a more sensitive, self-aware world. He has worked in the area of environmental education for three decades, much of that time as associate professor in the School of Geography and Environmental Science at Monash University in Melbourne. He uses the insights he has gained to transform his own life, which, in addition to striving for sustainable practice, has included learning to live positively, with a life-threatening condition.
Mr. Fisher received a master's degree in environmental studies, with honors, in 1976; a bachelor's degree in geography, with honors, in 1975; and a bachelor's degree in electric engineering, with honors, in 1965 from the University of Melbourne. He has published numerous papers on context education and specifically, on the social contexts of health, transport and energy. A selection of these has been published as a book by Vista Publications called "Response Ability: Environment, Health & Everyday Transcendence" (2006).
He is a fellow of the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand; a fellow of the Australian Institute of Energy; a fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts; a member of the International Society for the Systems Sciences; and a member of the Institution of Engineers, Australia. In 2007, he was awarded the National Environmental Educator of the Year; and in 2006, he received the Victorian Environmental Educator of the Year.
