Worldwide Who's Who Names Marie Nona Entrepreneur of the Year in Fashion Design

    QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA, December 19, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marie Nona, Owner of Tikies Design, has been named a Worldwide Who's Who Entrepreneur of the Year in Fashion Design. While inclusion in Worldwide Who's Who is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Who's Who membership.

While working at Pilbara TAFE (now Pilbara Institution), Ms. Nona took a risk and left the company to pursue her entrepreneurial dreams. Shortly thereafter, she moved back to Badu Island, her hometown. In 2011, she founded Tikies Design; a multifaceted business which functions under the company names Tikies Cafe & Shop and Tikies Fashion. Tikies Cafe & Shop provides some of the best food in the region, with menu items such as hamburgers, fish and chips, and fried chicken. Tikies Fashion caters to a local clientele demographic, offering unique clothing geared toward tourists looking to emulate Badu Island style.

As owner of the business, Ms. Nona interacts with clients from around the globe. Drawing on her educational background, which includes a certificate IV in business, she has become an expert in training. On a daily basis, Ms. Nona oversees all aspects of business operations for both Tikies Cafe & Shop and Tikies Fashion. Ever eager to expand brand awareness for Tikies Design, Ms. Nona seeks to network and consult with individuals and companies internationally to gain new ideas and collaborate professionally. Currently, she is involved with the local Tagi TAFE and is encouraging other businesses to enroll their workers in the course. Through her affiliation with various women's groups, and her volunteerism with community organizations, she has become an excellent resource of information. Within the next five years, she plans to expand her business in size, revenue, and clientele through exemplary customer service, advertising, and consulting.

Ms. Nona is recognized for outstanding business acumen and excellence in training. In 2013, she was inducted into Worldwide Who's Who as a lifetime member. Later that year, based on merit, she was selected for the prestigious distinction of Entrepreneur of the Year. Ms. Nona feels her success can be most aptly attributed to passion for her work and determination.
