/Worldwide Who's Who/ -- Russell Conley, Chief Executive Officer of The Griffin Coal Mining Company Pty Ltd, has been named a Worldwide Who's Who Professional of the Year in Operational Management. Mr. Conley has spent more than 31 years working in all levels of the mining industry, beginning as an apprentice and progressing to become a chief executive officer. His many years in the field have allowed him to develop his leadership capabilities and seek continuous professional improvements. For the last four years, he has served as the chief executive officer for The Griffin Coal Mining Company Pty Ltd, Western Australia's leading coal mining company. His areas of expertise include change management and operational management. In his leading role, he controls all aspects of marketing and sales, oversees all day-to-day operations and handles strategic analysis to keep the business ahead.
Prior to joining The Griffin Coal Mining Company Pty Ltd, Mr. Conley was the general manager of operations at Downer EDI Mining, in Queensland, Australia, and the senior site executive and project director for Macmahon Contractors, also located in Queensland. His many years of finding practical and workable solutions, as well as his can-do attitude, have led him to guide productivity improvements with significant financial benefits and bring about the introduction of modern mining practices into existing mining operations.
Mr. Conley attributes his success to his hard work and the fact that he meets his goals. He also credits the fact that he finds practical solutions and strives to achieve each company's goals. He became involved in his profession after working his way up through the ranks, initially working as an electrician, while gaining mining expereience. After he received further education, he advanced through the management ranks. There have been many highlights over time and each job and mine site had its own unique highlight in one way or another, but the most pleasing common highlight has been the various operational levels of success he has obtained, with each one adding value to the next.
Mr. Conley holds an Engineering Certificate and a NSW Open Cut Mine Managers Certificate of Competency. He has also earned a Queensland Open Cut Mine Managers Certificate of Competency and a Western Australia Un-Restricted Quarry Managers Certificate of Competency. In the future, Mr. Conley hopes to experience continued growth, both personally and professionally.
