/Worldwide Who's Who/ -- Todd Breden, vice president and general manager for Brewer Yacht Haven Marina, has been named a Worldwide Who's Who Professional of the Year in Marina Management. While inclusion in Worldwide Who's Who is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Who's Who membership.
Brewer Yacht Haven is one of 23 Brewer Yacht Yard locations in New York and New England. Having grown up around the Stamford, Connecticut, facility, Mr. Breden became passionate about its possibilities and eager to increase boaters' awareness of its advantages. The marina is 45 minutes from Manhattan by car or train, and easily accessible by land and sea. Offering a convenient gateway to eastern Long Island Sound, Brewer Yacht Haven has more than 350 slips and is well equipped to accommodate vessels more than 130 feet long. The facility boasts first-class amenities and is serviced by expert marine mechanics, carpenters and maintenance staff.
Mr. Breden has 20 years of professional experience. He follows his father, who was based at the facility for 35 years before becoming a marine surveyor. Mr. Breden began his career in rigging as a member of the yard crew, and was a marine electrician for 15 years, slowly working his way up into management. In 2011, he became general manager and vice president. He is responsible for a plethora of operational management duties, including electrical work, slip sales, service and maintenance. He attributes his success to his years of hard work and dedication to his field. He notes that to survive, marina managers need to stay one step ahead of the competition, constantly adjust to changing circumstances, and continually change their game plan to attract clientele. In the near future, Mr. Breden intends to grow the marina back to its former glory and keep it that way. In the 1980s, it was highly sought after, with a waiting list of more than two years; at present it is less than 50 percent full.
Mr. Breden pursues ongoing marine industry-related training. He is a certified marine technician through the American Boat & Yacht Council.
