Wrought Iron: Artistry and Security for Commercial Fencing

Wrought iron fencing is a good investment to enhance and secure any commercial property.

PHOENIX, AZ, December 29, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Maintaining a functioning and efficient commercial property that reflects well on the property owner and the tenants while providing a high degree of security is the goal of any property manager. After all, commercial properties typically represent significantly large investments for owners and serve as the visual representation of their brand or image. That is why it is important when considering how to fence a commercial property, how the choice in material not only protects, but also enhances that investment.

Wrought Iron vs. the Alternatives

Fencing, in general, serves three common purposes: security, privacy, and aesthetics. While some fences achieve one or two of the three, it is difficult to find a material that strikes the right balance.

Wooden fences are relatively low in cost and are highly configurable. They can be constructed in a wide variety of styles and formats for visually striking presentation with a lot of privacy (think tall, closely spaced slats). At the same time wood is a material that naturally requires more upkeep and maintenance than any other. Regardless of paint or sealant, wooden fences will end up rotting over time and will undergo various stages of warping and bending that end up looking bad and providing diminished security features.

Chain link is perhaps the most inexpensive fencing material available. It is sold in pre-fabricated dimensions that are easily installed and maintained over time. Where chain link succeeds in price and availability though, it fails in security and presentation. The flexibility that allows for easy installation is also more vulnerable to intruders and inevitably imparts a more temporary quality on the property itself. Added security features like barbed or razor wire are not welcoming in presentation and do not contribute to visitors' and tenants' sense of comfort and belonging at a commercial property that owners and managers typically try to achieve.

Wrought iron fencing is that sought after option that serves all of the three primary functions of a commercial fence. The material is typically made from closely inspected, premium grade steel that is always custom fabricated to the specific dimensions of the project. Wrought iron fence installers are artists. They heat and bend and hammer this material into ornate shapes and dimensions that are resilient and durable with the ability to literally last a lifetime. It does require some maintenance but like all high quality steel, wrought iron "matures" over time and takes on a natural and weathered patina that improves its aesthetic without sacrificing strength or integrity. When installed at a distance a commercial wrought iron fence offers breathable and airy visual qualities, allows for a flow of light and breeze that gives visitors a view of the features to highlight beyond the fence. Infinitely customizable, wrought iron can be built to any height and added security features like sharp cap posts can be molded into designs and shapes that improve on the fence's visual qualities.

The advantages of wrought iron over other fencing material make it a good investment to enhance and secure any commercial property. Unlike wood and other more inexpensive metal options, wrought iron imparts a sense of permanence and institution building that can have a strong effect on the way a property and its associated company, community, or brand is viewed by the public. For artistry, security, and history consider wrought iron fencing for any commercial property.
