LAS VEGAS, NV, January 24, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Yes! Air Conditioning & Plumbing Services is partnering with the Clark County School District - Community Partnership Program to bring the first-ever "Yes! Think Green Contest" to the young minds of Clark County. The "Yes! Think Green Contest" encourages elementary, middle and high school students to think about and raise awareness of energy conservation. Energy-saving ideas can be submitted in the form of a written essay, drawing or model, from Jan. 20 through Mar. 1, for a chance to win cash prizes. ---
"It is particularly important that we get the kids in Clark County to start thinking about energy conservation from an early age," said Beverly Mason, director, Clark County School District School-Community Partnership Program. "Youth are more likely to develop life-long environmentally healthy habits when they learn about energy conservation at a young age. We appreciate the support from community partners in providing educational enrichment opportunities like this contest. It provides additional opportunities to reinforce what we are already teaching."
"Our hope is that we can spark an interest in our youth to think about the impact they can make on our environment, and share those ideas with the community so we can start making changes right here in Las Vegas," said Lance Fernandez, regional manager, Yes! Air Conditioning & Plumbing Las Vegas.
All CCSD students, grades K-12, are encouraged to enter the "Yes! Think Green Contest." The contest is open to all "green" ideas, including essays, models and drawings. It will be divided into three categories based on school level. Two high school students each will be rewarded with a $125 cash prize; two middle school students each will receive a $75 cash prize, and two elementary school students each will earn a $50 cash prize. Additionally, Yes! will donate $500 to the CCSD school that has the most student participation.
All entries must include a thorough explanation of the idea, the potential impact of the idea on the economy and/or community, and how the idea can be implemented throughout their community. Projects must be submitted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Mar. 1, 2014.
