-- Amanda Itzkoff, MD, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in the medical field.
Dr. Itzkoff has 11 years of experience in medicine, with nine years as physician in private practice. She possesses an expertise in psychiatric medicine and treating women in transition, whether it's from college to a first career, or career women considering becoming first time moms. She also assists women and men using assistive reproductive technology. Dr. Itzkoff treats patients with psychiatric concerns such as depression, anxiety, memory disorders, bipolar disorder, adult attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), eating disorders, and substance dependency and abuse.
She attributes her success to her hard work and her passion for the field of psychiatry. She became involved in her profession because she originally wanted to be an obstetrician, and while attending Cornell for her bachelor's degree, she worked for Planned Parenthood as a counselor. This changed her interest to the psychological aspect of medicine, and she chose psychiatry. One of the hallmarks of Dr. Itzkoff's practice is her passion for treating every patient as the individuals that they are. She always works hand-in-hand with patients to ensure that they receive the best quality care possible.
In recognition of her professional excellence throughout the years, Dr. Itzkoff has earned several awards, including an On-Time Physician Award and numerous Patients' Choice Awards and Compassionate Doctor Awards. Additionally, Vitals has ranked Dr. Itzkoff as one of its Top 10 Doctors by State.
Dr. Itzkoff completed her residency and fellowship in psychiatry at Mount Sinai Medical Center, and earned a MD from New York University School of Medicine (2003). She also has a Bachelor of Science in Applied Economics from Cornell University as a co-valedictorian (1999). Recently, she was inducted into Worldwide Registry and also maintains affiliations with American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc. Charitably, she supports the New York Public Library and Parish Art Museum. An active professional, her hobbies include surfing and traveling, in addition to reading, creative writing, and French fluency. In five years, Dr. Itzkoff intends to experience continued growth and success for her practice.
