Jason Cormier Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Neurosurgery

Dr. Cormier created the Motorsports Safety Group to influence behavioral changes and provide safety programs



    LAFAYETTE, LA, January 26, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jason Cormier has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A neurosurgeon in a group practice called Acadiana Neurosurgery, Dr. Cormier specializes in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of disorders of the central and peripheral nervous system, including congenital anomalies, trauma, tumors, vascular disorders of the brain or spine, stroke, or degenerative diseases of the spine. He established Motorsports Safety Group in partnership with the ARCA to help foster improvement of the safety of racing. Their mission is to provide a comprehensive, grassroots marketing campaign focused on preventative health care education and wellness training.

To prepare for a career in the medical field, Dr. Cormier attended Louisiana State University, where he earned an MD. During his time at the university, he served on several committees, including the LSU School of Medicine Admissions Committee, the LSU School of Medicine Dean's Selection Committee, and he was the medical school's representative to the Louisiana Board of Supervisors in 2004. After graduating, Dr. Cormier completed an internship in general surgery and neurosurgery at Duke University Medical Center, and the completion of his neurosurgery training at UAB.

As an expert in the field, Dr. Cormier is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Louisiana State Medical Society, the Lafayette Parish Medical Society, and the American College of Surgeons. In addition, he is affiliated with the Pituitary Network Association, the North American Neuromodulation Society, the International Council of Motorsport Science, the Society of Lateral Access Surgery and the Subcortical Surgery Group.

Acknowledged as one of the country's leading neurosurgeons, Dr. Cormier has earned national recognition for his work. He has been listed in the "Consumer Research Council of America's Guide to America's Top Surgeons" and "Leading Physicians of the World" for Neurosurgery. In addition, he earned a Patients Choice Award as the Most Compassionate Doctor and the Spirit of Hope Honoree Award from the American Cancer Society. An avid motorsports fan, he founded the Motorsports Safety Group to turn his passion into a national preventive healthcare initiative. Looking toward the future, Dr. Cormier plans to continue growing The Motorsports Safety Group and working as a neurosurgeon while taking on new opportunities in his field.
