Marquis Who's Who Celebrates Greg Cliffe for Artistic Excellence

Mr. Cliffe is recognized for his artistic perspective on the nature of group behavior and social living



Mr. Cliffe has had multiple works featured in group exhibitions in galleries throughout Australia.

    VALLEY HEIGHTS, AUSTRALIA, March 06, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mr. Greg Cliffe has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Cliffe is regarded in the art world for his creative works and role in education with art known for its perspective on society and culture. In 2016, his work "Groupthink" was exhibited at the Lost Bear Gallery at Katoomba, Australia. "Groupthink" consists of paintings on canvas and paper that reflect the nature of group behavior across a range of subcultures and environments and expounds on changes in cultural and social values. His work "Fragmented Values: Compulsive Lives" was also featured in a solo exhibition at the Tin Sheds Art Gallery in 2001.

Mr. Cliffe received an advanced certificate of careers education from RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia in 2009 and a Master of Arts from Western Sydney University in 2011. He began studying art in TAFE and Colleges of Advanced Educations in the 1970s, with a focus on abstract expressionism, sculptural formalism, and performance-installation art. He received a diploma in education from the Sydney Teacher's College in 1979, a Diploma in Art design, electromedia, and performance art from the Alexander Mackie College of Advanced Education, and an art qualifying certificate from the National Art School in 1975.

Mr. Cliffe has had multiple works featured in group exhibitions in galleries throughout Australia. Some of his pieces and set designs include "Embers" and "The Wedding Singer," featured at Springwood Theatre Company, "Lockie Leonard: Human Torpedo" and "Living Books," exhibited at Springwood Theatre Company, and "Connections," exhibited at Alleyway Art. Until the late 1980s, Mr. Cliffe practiced as a sculptor and performance artist. He is recognized for his performance of "The Medium is the Massage" and "A European Perspective" at the Cite Internationale Des Artes de Paris in 1984. Other performances include "Wild & Domesticated" at the Wentworth Falls School of the Arts in 1994, "the Bomb" at the Leichhardt Performance Festival in 1980, and "Come on Aussie Come On," at Festival Canberra in 1980 and at Sydney Town Hall in 1981. As a student, his work "6 x 4" was exhibited in a group show at The Students' Gallery, Leichhardt and "Ideas Objects & Installations" was featured in a solo exhibition at the Students' Gallery in 1978. Additionally, he has had works featured in the Contemporary Art Society Group Show at Paddington Town Hall and in the Society of Sculptors Annual Art Show at the Sculpture Centre.

In addition to his success as an artist, Mr. Cliffe is an active member of his community. He supported the Blue Mountains Council City of the Arts as a member of the Trust Advisory Committee from 2010 to 2011. He also served Springwood High School as a member of the Occupational Health and Safety Committee from 2009 to 2011 and the Springwood High School Council from 2002 to 2005. He shared his artistic expertise as a reviewer on the proposed graduate diploma in design and technology at the University of Western Sydney in 1994 and as a committee member of the Society of Sculptors from 1977 to 1978.
