Florida Tarps Importer Goes Eco-Friendly

Tarpaflex, a leader in the distribution of tarps, offers customers the benefit of lowered costs through its environmentally sound business practices

NAPLES, FL, May 14, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Tarpaflex US LLC, a family-owned tarpaulin business that has operated in the UK for twenty years, reports that its three-year-old Naples, Florida site is focused on implementing measures that save their customers money as well as help protect the Earth. Decisions to purchase goods manufactured from recycled materials and to ship tarpaulins bound in off cuts of tarp material point to an environmentally aware business.

Tarpaflex imports tarps that are in bale packing instead of cardboard cartons, the commonly used shipment method of many other tarp businesses. This method of packing tarps is kinder to the environment than traditional shipping methods using cardboard cartons. The bale packing is leftover tarp material that would not be used or sold otherwise, allowing Tarpaflex to significantly decrease material waste. The Tarpaflex staff estimates that shipping containers can hold up to 20% more tarps when the tarps are packaged using scrap material. Larger shipment quantities mean fewer shipments and less fuel consumed. By using scrap tarp material instead of cardboard cartons, Tarpaflex is able to eliminate the generation of packaging materials that will eventually be taken to landfills. Besides being eco-friendly, Tarpaflex administrators report that this shipment method results in fuel and material cost savings. These savings are passed directly to Tarpaflex customers.

Another component of Tarpaflex's environmentally friendly business standards is the purchasing of recycled goods. Paper products as well as other items used within the business, such as plastic garbage sacks, are manufactured using recycled materials.
The Tarpaflex line of tarpaulins includes over 900 different styles of tarps designed for a multitude of uses. According to a Tarpaflex spokesperson, three of the most popular products are green tarps, blue tarps, and canvas tarps. The green tarps and blue tarps are constructed of low density polyethylene and are laminated with high density polyethylene on both sides. These tarps are lightweight, waterproof, mildewproof, and resist damage from tears and acids. Customers typically use these tarps for construction, camping, boating, and landscaping.
The canvas tarps are constructed of 100% cotton single-filled duck fabric. These tarps are for heavy-duty use and can withstand severe weather conditions. Customers often use canvas tarps to cover objects that tend to deteriorate with exposure to condensation, such as boats and lumber. Painters and decorators use canvas tarps to protect furniture.
Tarpaflex tarps can be purchased online in any quantity.
