Advantech AMT to Acquire EMS Satellite Networks

Advantech AMT announces that it has agreed to purchase EMS Satellite Networks, the DVB-RCS division of EMS Technologies Inc.



    /24-7PressRelease/ - MONTREAL, CANADA, December 24, 2005 - Advantech AMT, a manufacturer of satellite and terrestrial wireless communication equipment with corporate headquarters in Montreal, Canada, announced today that it has agreed to purchase the EMS Satellite Networks division of EMS Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: ELMG). Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. The sale is expected to close before the end of 2005.

EMS Satellite Networks together with SpaceBridge Semiconductor (previously acquired by Advantech AMT), will form Advantech Satellite Networks. Satellite Networks will enjoy an expanded product range and capability, expanded international sales and service presence, and significant complementary range of products in combination with its parent company, Advantech AMT.

Advantech Satellite Networks will be lead by Donald F. Osborne, previously Senior Vice-President and General Manager of EMS Satellite Networks. "We are very excited by the clear market synergies between EMS Satellite Networks and SpaceBridge Semiconductor", said Don Osborne. "We look forward to announcing aggressive product and market plans for Advantech Satellite Networks, early in 2006".
