The World Press Photo exhibition 2009 in Barcelona - LateRooms.com

Bringing together a collection of the winning entries from the World Press Photo competition, the exhibition provides guests with the chance to see some of the very best photos taken in 2008.

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND, October 09, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Only a few weeks remain until one of the world's most important displays of photojournalism calls Barcelona home for several days.

The Centre de Cultura Contemporania de Barcelona, which is within reach of the wide array of Barcelona Hotels, is due to host the 2009 edition of the World Press Photo exhibition between November 11th and December 13th.

Bringing together a collection of the winning entries from the World Press Photo competition, the exhibition provides guests with the chance to see some of the very best photos taken in 2008.

Pictures featured in the contest compete in a total of 11 different categories, including sports reportage, daily life, contemporary issues, news events and action photography.

The winning photos are then exhibited on the condition that they are put on display without any form of censorship.

A photo taken by Anthony Suau depicting an officer clearing a foreclosed home in Cleveland, Ohio, has been selected as the World Press Photo of the Year for 2008.

"The fact that thousands of visitors from around the world see this exhibition shows photography's power to overcome linguistic and cultural boundaries," the organisers state.

Tickets to exhibitions at the Centre de Cultura Contemporania de Barcelona cost from EUR4.50 (GBP4.13).
