Victorian Bed and Breakfast and Wedding Venue Near Alrewas By Burton On Trent and Lichfield Offers Character Rooms, Great Food and Peace

St Leonards House, a Victorian bed and breakfast and wedding venue in Wychnor near Alrewas, between Burton on Trent and Lichfield is specialising in offering character rooms, great, home cooked home grown food and peace and tranquility.

ALREWAS, ENGLAND, November 05, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- When you pull up outside St Leonards House and Church and get out of your car it is a bit of a shock to be in such beautiful, quiet, countryside a few minutes after leaving the busy A38. Even locals don't quite know where this lovely little oasis is. The ones that do have probably walked or run down the canal towpath or ridden their bikes on the National Cycle Trail. Most satnavs give up at the crossroads up the lane and often try to bring you into Wychnor Estate via the back lanes. Actually you just need to find the church and then you have found St Leonards House. You can see the church, up on the hill to your left, as you drive up the A38 towards the Wychnor turn off. It's prominent position overlooking the Trent Valley and the Wychnor Bridges ( over the Trent ) are what made it a very strategic location through history. We don't want to be too easily found - that's how Wychnor stays so peaceful!

You then have to pick an entrance to the house. The holly arch and the entrance door with 1859 above it is a bit of a clue to the right one.

The press of the front doorbell sets off a peel of bells inside the house - or is it in the church?? You are welcomed inside through the porch and into the great hall. It is not exactly the Sistine Chapel or St Paul's Cathedral but is impressive nevertheless. The grand staircase heads up and to the right and left and leads your gaze upwards, past the chandelier to the old black beams and the stained glass skylight.

The rooms are simple and pretty and oh so peaceful !! The views are enhanced by the additional height and the proximity to the church. Tranquility begins to creep over you as you sit on the bed and gaze out of the window.

The dining room is beautiful and from one side of the table you see those fabulous views again. The guest lounges range from the lovely " Blue Room ", with views of the gardens, hot tub and swimming pool, to the " TV Room " and the " Study ". The latter having beautiful leather Chesterfields and a curious mix of Russel-Flint and military pictures - a bit of a man's room ??

The lady of the house, Pam, is an excellent chef and provides breakfast, tea and coffee and, by special arrangement, dinner. The menu's are liberally sprinkled with some home reared and all home made food: Eggs from the St Leonards chickens, plum jam from the St Leonards trees and marmalade made using fresh oranges.

Fortunately there are excellent walks and bike rides from the house to work off all the great food and drink. There are also great pubs in nearby Barton and Alrewas - all a short, lovely, walk away.

If you seek even more solitude ask for the key to the church and sit quietly where worshipers have sat since the 12th Century.

St Leonards House is an oasis in a hectic life. It is run simply and quietly and is the better for that.
