Narad Networks and Carrier Access Offer Scalable VoIP Solutions over HFC for Wide Range of Customer Configurations

Broadband access network solutions allow cable operators to serve dense business nodes with high quality, cost-effective end-to-end solutions for small and medium businesses

/24-7PressRelease.com/ - Boulder, CO. and Westford, MA. - April 7, 2006 - Carrier Access Corporation (NASDAQ: CACS), a leading provider of broadband communications equipment, and Narad Networks, Inc., a provider of high performance switched broadband access solutions, announce the availability of scalable VoIP solutions for the small to mid-size business market. The two companies will highlight their combined VoIP solutions at The National Show - April 9-11 - Atlanta in the Narad booth #3757.

The combined solution provides Multiple System Operators (MSOs) with a flexible solution set to meet the needs of businesses requiring eight or more simultaneous voice circuits and data services. The Narad Broadband Access Network (NBAN) Ethernet-over-Coax infrastructure solution supports carrier class Quality of Service (QoS) requirements needed to reliably transport voice, with the ability to scale to serve hundreds of business customers requiring T1 type capacity.

"Our partnership with Narad has been great as we are better able to offer MSOs a complete range of customer premise solutions for integrated voice and data services that are compatible with hosted VoIP services in the headend. We believe our combined solution serves this market well even in denser business districts where sufficient bandwidth would not otherwise be available," said Larry Hamilton - Senior Vice President Sales Carrier Access.

"The Carrier Access voice gateway product allows MSOs to offer a full service package to SMBs that grows with the customer and combines QoS based IP voice and data services such as Transparent LAN, data backup and storage solutions over the existing HFC network," said Michael Collette, Narad Networks CEO. "Combining this functionality with the Narad provisioning platform creates a dynamic service delivery environment that meets a broad range of customer needs in one unified toolkit."

Field-proven and backed by extensive interoperability partnerships, the Carrier Access Adit line of IP access solutions are deployed globally by service providers to meet the growing demand to deliver converged IP services to their business customers. Powering some of the leading IP and VoIP deployments, the Adit products' combination of carrier-grade design, performance and security features at disruptive price points offers unparalleled cost savings for both business users and service providers.

Narad's Ethernet-over-Coax solution provides up to 100 Mbps x 100 Mbps of additional bandwidth over each coaxial cable span. In combination with Narad Ethernet switches, these 100 Mbps symmetrical links can be switched onto the coax plant at multiple points to provide Gigabits of symmetric bandwidth per node. Narad's switched Ethernet-over-Fiber solution provides Gigabit fiber capacity while making optimally efficient use of existing fiber plant. Narad's Ethernet-based outdoor switches support fiber, coax and wireless transmissions.
