"Beyond the Auditor's Checkbox" Webcast to be presented by SC Magazine using TalkPoint Technology

On April 20th, SC Magazine, in association with Core Security will present a Webinar addressing the compliance regulations and guidelines that govern today's corporate environment.

/24-7PressRelease/ - NEW YORK, NY, April 13, 2006 - SC Magazine, which provides IT security professionals with in-depth and unbiased information in one incomparable publication and TalkPoint, the leading provider of Web-based audio and video conferencing solutions, today announced that SC Magazine will present an April 20th Webcast, "Beyond the Auditor's Checkbox", delivered using TalkPoint's interactive audio solution.

CSOs must comply with a bevy of regulations -- from GLBA and Sarbanes-Oxley to HIPAA and SB1386. Besides ensuring that they are meeting the requirements set forth in each without duplicating efforts, IT security professionals also must make sure that the risk mitigation practices and solutions they implement are actually effective. That is, how can CSOs be sure that after they've passed the audit for compliance - once that box is checked off -- that the solutions and strategies they're using are actually doing what they're claiming? To answer this means proving to organizational executives that all the work to comply with regulations actually decreases the risk that corporate data will be compromised. On April 20, get expert advice and learn ways such an objective can be achieved from Gene Fredriksen, CSO of Raymond James Financial, and Marcus Sachs, deputy director in the Computer Science Laboratory at SRI International and director of the Washington, D.C. operations of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Cyber Security Research and Development Center (which SRI supports).

"Companies are getting hit by any number of legislative mandates", said Illena Armstrong, Editor-in-Chief of SC Magazine. "As a result, they're scrambling to get the proper security controls in place to ensure they meet these. But this isn't just a one-off endeavor - there's ongoing cycles to which enterprises must conform to be sure their often costly efforts to comply are actually paying off."

TalkPoint will be providing SC Magazine a suite of solutions for their online event that include audio with synchronized slides and interactive elements such as real-time polling and live QandA. Following the live event, archives are available for continued access by SC Magazine's audience base.
