CPAide and taxmOuth Host National Tax Help Week January 11 - 15, 2010

Tax professionals at TaxHelpWeek.com give free federal and state tax help, forms, workshops and answers so taxpayers can prepare, print and e-file federal and state tax returns for free.

LOS ANGELES, CA, January 06, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- CPAide and taxmOuth, the largest accounting and tax portals on the web, announced that January 11 - 15, 2010 will be National Tax Help Week. Their new joint website called TaxHelpWeek.com will host a week-long series of free events to help taxpayers file their federal and state income tax returns for the 2009 tax year. "Our goal is to help 100 million people electronically prepare and file their income tax returns and obtain $260 billion in refunds as quickly as possible, without being ripped off with outrageous fees charged by many storefront tax prep and refund anticipation loan shops," explains Ronald Bodtcher, President of CPAide and Chief taxmOuth.

taxmOuth is tackling this problem by beginning National Tax Help Week on January 11 with a Withholding Workshop and Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Awareness Day. Taxpayers and Tax Professionals can visit EITC Central and get complete information on filing refunds to claim the Earned Income Credit. The refund applies for those who neglected to complete Form W-5 to receive an advance on their credit during 2009 or were otherwise ineligible.

"Getting your Forms W-4 and W-5 correct at the beginning of the year is the simplest thing that most Americans can do to improve their financial health," claims Bodtcher. "The Form W-5 alone allows qualifying citizens to receive an advance refund for increased cash flow of up to $472 per month. This money can provide investment and spending to help the economy, rather than provide an interest-free loan to the federal government and excess profits to storefront refund anticipation loan shops." The workshop is so simple that it will be conducted entirely on Twitter, the microblogging service that is sweeping the country. Taxpayers can visit taxmOuth's Twitter page on January 11th to receive instructions and links to the appropriate forms.

Taxpayers can continue receiving federal and state tax tips and due date reminders on Twitter and on taxmOuth's new IRS Tax Calendar online which officially launches January 12. The web site features monthly due dates for all types of taxes for small businesses and the self-employed. It also has tax topics and tips, forms and publications, and other resources to assist with tax planning and compliance.

Another great tax help will open to the public January 13: the IRS Tax Map, taxmOuth Edition on the web. This is a complete resource for finding answers to all types of federal tax questions. Visitors can search or browse over 5,000 tax topics just like IRS tax agents do, with special modifications by taxmOuth to make finding your answers even easier than before. There is a custom Google search, links to FAQs and Tax Topics not included with the standard IRS edition of Tax Map.

A new, improved IRS Tax Workshop for Small Business and the Self-Employed will be released on January 14. The workshop includes a series of 9 interactive lessons that help small business owners with their tax responsibilities. Featured lessons cover starting a business, paying taxes via computer, home-based businesses, retirement plans, payroll taxes and more. These lessons are online and can be viewed any time and any place. Taxpayers simply need Internet access.

On January 15 CPAide reintroduces CPAwho, a website which includes "Ask A CPA", a free online service that lets users quickly locate and email tax questions to local CPAs and other tax professionals. Visitors simply enter their zip code and click on the search button. Search results are listed according to zip code proximity and include specializations, qualifications, contact information, maps and more. Over 1,600 CPAs, accountants and other tax professionals from across the country are included in the listings and will be available to answer taxpayer questions. Unlike some tax prep and refund anticipation loan shops, the CPAwho listings include only full-time professionals and specifically exclude seasonal tax preparers and non-professionals who fill out tax returns on a part-time or moonlighting basis.

The taxmOuth FreeFile Center opens January 15, so taxpayers can spend National Tax Help Week familiarizing themselves with taxmOuth and getting ready to prepare, print and e-file federal returns for free. "If a part-time or seasonal moonlighting tax preparer in a storefront can do your taxes, so can you--just use taxmOuth's tax web sites, the IRS Tax Map, tax toolbars and Ask a CPAide service to help you with any problem areas. taxmOuth is committed to providing everything you need to prepare and file your own taxes without undue stress and expense. All of our federal tax services are free," says Bodtcher.

Last year, over 30 million people prepared and e-filed their own returns. The error rate was less than 1 percent, compared to an error rate of about 20 percent for a paper prepared return. "You can receive a refund in 10 days if you use electronic filing and direct deposit," claims Bodtcher. "There's no need to pay the exorbitant refund anticipation loan fees that many storefront tax prep shops charge for a quickie refund. Taxpayers with more complex situations need the help of a CPA or other tax professional and can locate a qualified person on the CPAwho.com website."

All of the web sites, toolbars, "Ask a CPAide" service and free returns will be available throughout the current income tax filing season, which runs until April 15, 2010.
