Car Dealership Plans for Growth Despite Shaky Economy

Denver-based Alpine Buick Pontiac GMC forecasts revenue growth in 2010

DENVER, CO, January 18, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Despite a wavering economy, Alpine Buick Pontiac GMC (Alpine), located in south Denver, is planning growth for the year ahead. The dealership will add approximately $4 million in new inventory on its lot and will implement a value-driven sales strategy on new vehicles for 2010.

General Motors (NYSE: GM) will phase out the Pontiac brand, but Alpine, a GM dealership, will boost inventory by increasing the number of Buick and GMC vehicles for sale and adding a variety of pre-owned vehicles on the lot. All new vehicles will be priced using "value-pricing." The model, new this year, allows Alpine to sell new cars on its lot for as much as $3000-$6000 below sticker price in order to limit the negotiations that can be typical in car buying.

"Families and individuals need to find cars now that fit a tighter budget," notes Ivette Dominguez, owner of Alpine. "Our one-price selling will give them confidence when deciding which is the right vehicle for their needs and, we think, will lead them to choose Alpine as their dealership."

Despite GM's decision to file for bankruptcy in 2009, Alpine's revenue remained steady. Sales of new and pre-owned vehicles saw a slight decrease but increases in revenue from the in-house service department led to overall gains for the dealership in 2009.

"Owners are choosing to service vehicles they might have traded in the past," says Rick Jones, Sales Manager for Alpine. "As the only Buick GMC dealer in the state that offers free loaner cars for our service department customers, we picked up a lot of the increased demand in 2009."

Dominguez also plans to increase advertising spending for the dealership by nearly 20 percent for 2010. Along with promoting the one-price sales strategy, advertising will include a high profile radio campaign featuring Denver Nuggets forward Chris "the Birdman" Andersen.

Alpine also has plans to expand. Currently owners of just one location, the team is actively looking at new sites for a second and perhaps a third location.

"While the economy is hurting us all, we are fortunate to be in a position to grow and help more customers with their vehicle needs," said Dominguez.
