Cartoonist Supports Haiti Relief Efforts

Jurdy Carftoon Character Provides Motivation for Haiti Relief Donations

WILMINGTON, DE, January 20, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- As Haiti endures the most devastating earthquake disaster in the history of the country, the world is making a united effort to send relief in hopes of rebuilding this demolished country.

Enter the character of hope for Haiti, Jurdy, the alter-ego of Wilmington-born cartoonist, Jenifer Jurden. Jurdy offers compassion and hope through loving expressions and messaging that Jurden hopes will be a "friend" to everyone who was impacted by this tragedy.

Jurden, a veteran advertising executive and cartoonist, launched Jurdy in 2007, and Jurdy quickly became a source of comic relief and a "spokes-being" for the universe on topics of green and humanity. Now Jurdy Green cartoons are published internationally and on Jurdy's own website, www.jurdygreen.com where there is now a dedicated Haiti page which asks viewers to donate anything they can to the Haiti relief fund.

"Jurdy is a compassionate, human-loving character with universal appeal," says Jurden of the character. "And Jurdy can really speak to the heartstrings of the world's population which hopefully will lead to increase generosity from their purse strings." Jurdy first made the green scene when Jurden launched her site to motivate humans on the topic of green through the use of comic relief. "People enjoy a good laugh on any topic and with Jurdy I help them sustain a green focus for the long haul," says Jurden.

"I have Jurdy 'hope for Haiti cards' that I want to donate and get distributed to as many Haitians as possible to give them a 'friend' at a time of need," says Jurden. "Jurdy for the Haitian children in particular could be a huge emotional tool because they could have Jurdy with them wherever they are to help them cope and offer them companionship." Jurden is currently exploring distribution avenues for her card donations and also publishing opportunities for her donation request cartoons.
"Jurdy and I can help keep the Haiti rescue donation drive alive for the long term, we just need to partner with the right organization," Jurden states eagerly.

To kick off Jurdy's Haiti relief efforts, Jurden has Jurdy Green cartoons on her Jurdy Green home page as well as a dedicated page with an ad reminding people to donate. And while Jurden is thrilled to support Haiti through her website and through her presence on Greenbang.com out of England, she's also quick to point out that Jurdy has a video on YouTube asking for Haiti relief help as well. "Without U there is no humanity - put the I in Haiti" is the message that Jurdy conveys on the websites and in the video. Jurden says, "we need to do more than make a difference for Haiti. More than ever we need to find ways to motivate the universe as a whole to donate whatever they can. No amount is too small. Jurdy hopes to communicate that message in all ways possible."

Jurdy is the universal spokes-character for hope, compassion and humanity. For more information, please contact Jenifer Jurden (creator of Jurdy) at 410-352-3308 or [email protected] or visit http://www.jurdy.com.
