Enjoy a Feast of Pyrotechnics While Visiting Hanoi

The international fireworks festival in Da Nang could appeal to travellers visiting Vietnam this year.

HANOI, VIETNAM, January 26, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- People spending time in hotels in Hanoi may like to take a trip out of the city for Vietnam's international fireworks competition.

This event is set to take place in the central city of Da Nang on March 27th and 28th, with teams from the US, Japan, France, Portugal and Vietnam showing off their pyrotechnical expertise.

According to the ODC Travel website, local officials in Da Nang have said that a grandstand with the capacity to hold 30,000 spectators will be constructed for this year's fireworks festival.

The 2009 edition featured a number of international teams presenting displays based on specific themes.

Australia's team used a "blend of traditional Australian Aboriginal, orchestral and rock music" to give their performance a distinctive character, while the group from China based their display on The Butterfly Lovers, a Chinese legend about a tragic romance.

Last year's event also saw the participation of fireworks teams from the Philippines, Spain and Vietnam.

The overall theme for 2010 is the Legend of Han River, referring to the body of water that flows through the city.

Da Nang is the third largest urban settlement in Vietnam after Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
