Integrated Solutions Management, Inc (ISM) Executives Participate In Nicaragua Service Program

Marty Burke and Bill Banks travel to Nicaragua with Bridges to Community to build earthquake-stable houses.

TAMPA, FL, January 31, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Two of Integrated Solutions Management's executive leadership team returned from a eight day trip to Nicaragua where they joined with other federal and commercial IT executives from the Washington, D.C. area to build sustainable housing in materially poor communities. Bill Banks, President, and Marty Burke, Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, spent five days building two houses in the town of Ticuantepe. "This is my fourth trip to Nicaragua with Bridges to Community. I am reminded each year how fortunate we are in the United States, and how much we take for granted with respect to our basic needs of food, clothing, and shelter," stated Marty Burke.

Bridges to Community, Inc. (www.bridgestocommunity.org) is a nonprofit community development organization that takes volunteers to developing countries to work, learn and reflect. Through the process of living and working with local communities on construction, health and environmental projects, Bridges promotes cross-cultural learning, a deepening awareness of our global interdependence and a commitment to the common good.

The focus of this Bridges to Community trip was to build two 15'x18' earthquake-stable houses in the Masaya region of Nicaragua. Working with experienced masons, the Bridges team was responsible for digging and pouring footings, installing rebar reinforcement, mixing cement, pouring concrete, and laying block.

Bill Banks stated, "Seeing the enormous devastation in Haiti just four days before boarding a plane to Nicaragua really emphasized the need for efforts like Bridges to build sustainable and safe housing, to establish access to water and electricity, and to provide adequate healthcare in underdeveloped countries." Marty Burke added, "We have the means, ability, and opportunity to share and give back to our local communities and beyond. I feel lucky to be in a position to be a part of the Bridges effort."
