Electronic Music Pioneer Robert Henke to Perform in Hanoi - AsiaRooms.com

Robert Henke will present Intersection, a musical performance based on the sounds of Hanoi, at the Temple of Literature on April 3rd.

HANOI, VIETNAM, March 03, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Robert Henke, a German electronic musician known for his innovative approach to live performance, has confirmed a forthcoming appearance in Hanoi.

The Berlin-based artist is set to appear at the Vietnamese capital's Temple of Literature on Saturday April 3rd, when he will present a show entitled Intersection.

According to Henke, the music featured in the performance will be entirely created using field recordings he made while staying in accommodation in Hanoi during November 2009.

Having travelled around the city collecting sounds, the musician then transferred his audio snippets to a computer, where they were "layered, filtered, slowed down and processed in many ways".

Henke describes Intersection as "a personal memory of my first visit to Hanoi", with the sound of motorcycles, car horns, the train station and the "rusty old metal joints of the Long Bien bridge" all combining to create the atmosphere of the city.

The performance, which will last between 20 and 30 minutes, will be supported by the Goethe Institute Hanoi.

Henke made his name as part of Monolake, the electronic music act he founded in Berlin with Gerhard Behles.

He performs using a custom-made device known as a Monodeck, which combines a number of software instruments, mixers and effects in a single unit.
