Where I Belong Photography Exhibition takes place in Chiang Mai - AsiaRooms.com

Several venues in Chiang Mai are hosting a photography exhibition to raise awareness of suffering children.

CHIANG MAI, THAILAND, March 04, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- People using accommodation in Chiang Mai will be able to attend a special exhibition of photographs in the city later this month.

Organised by the Grandma Cares partnership programme and Cultural Canvas Thailand, Where I Belong features striking images of Thai children whose lives have been affected by HIV and AIDS.

This free exhibition, which opened at Chiang Mai's Playhouse Theatre this month, will also show at the Chiang Mai International School on March 22nd.

Over 30 photographs are included in the exhibition, with each one depicting a young person's perception of family and exploring how their lives have been altered by the disease.

According to the organisers, the event represents a chance to "glimpse the world through the eyes of these resilient children".

Several other Chiang Mai venues, including the Prem International School and the Nakornpayap International School, are also due to show the exhibition during March.

Grandma Cares is a charitable organisation that works to support children in northern Thailand who have been orphaned by HIV and AIDS.

Currently sponsoring over 70 families, the charity also aims to reduce the country's child mortality rates by working with rural schools in disadvantaged areas.

As the largest city in northern Thailand, Chiang Mai serves as a focal point for the group's activities.

Many visitors using accommodation in Thailand head to the city for its famous temples, distinctive cuisine and massage schools.
