Avantium Wins GPEC 2010 Clean Technology Business Award

Avantium received the first place award of the Clean Technology Business Forum & Competition at the Global Plastics Environmental Conference 2010 in USA. The jury stated that "Avantium's green building blocks 'Furanics' have the potential to enhance and change the global plastics industry".



    AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS, March 16, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Avantium received the first place award of the Clean Technology Business Forum & Competition at the Global Plastics Environmental Conference (GPEC) 2010 in Orlando, USA. This was announced at the Awards Dinner of the GPEC, organized by the Society of Plastics Engineers.

Avantium was selected because of the major progress the company has made in unlocking the enormous potential of Furanics green plastics. The jury stated that "Furanics have the potential to enhance and change the global plastics industry, as these green building blocks can now be produced economically for a wide range of materials and applications".

Avantium has developed a technology for the economic production of Furanics from biomass. Furanics are building blocks to produce a wide range of green plastics, chemicals and materials, as well as for green fuels.
Avantium works together with its customers and their clients to advance Furanics step by step to a global must-have.

The Clean Technology Business Forum & Competition was part of the Global Plastics Environmental Conference (GPEC) 2010, organized by the Environmental Division of the Society of Plastics Engineers. Sponsor of the competition was Battelle, an international non-profit R&D organization. The jury consisted of representatives from Battelle, Cascadia Capital, Emerald Technology Ventures, Modern Plastics Worldwide magazine, FRX Polymers, Cooley Godward Kronish LLP, and SPM Technologies.
