Tennis Stars Come to Munich for BMW Open - LateRooms.com

The ATP Tour's BMW Open will bring tennis fans and top players to Munich in early May.

MUNICH, GERMANY, March 31, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Some of the biggest names in men's tennis will soon be heading to Munich for the BMW Open, which runs from May 1st to May 9th.

Taking place at the city's Iphitos Tennis Club, the tournament is an outdoor clay court event forming part of the ATP Tour schedule during the build-up to the French Open in Paris.

Czech player Tomas Berdych won the title last year, defeating Russia's Mikhail Youzhny in an exciting three-set encounter to claim the trophy.

Previous champions at the Munich event include Mark Philippoussis, Nikolay Davydenko and world number one Roger Federer, who triumphed over Jarkko Nieminen in 2003.

Several top players are expected to take part in the BMW Open this time round, including world number ten Marin Cilic and former winner Fernando Gonzalez.

Tennis fans using hotels in Munich can also look forward to the tournament's "daily specials", with each day offering some form of themed entertainment for visitors.

The opening day of the competition, Saturday May 1st, has been designated Family Day. This will include an all-star doubles tournament featuring top athletes from other sports putting their tennis skills to the test.

Monday May 3rd is Kids Day and everyone under 16 can enter the tournament grounds for free, with a number of special activities lined up for youngsters.

On Wednesday May 5th, the first 100 female spectators will be rewarded with a special greeting and free gift from tournament director Patrik Kuhnen as the event celebrates Ladies Day.

Tickets for the competition range in price and there are several special offers available. For EUR46 (GBP41), spectators will receive entry to the BMW Open Bistro, as well as their choice of any seat.

After the BMW Open, the ATP Tour moves on to events in Belgrade, Estoril, Dusseldorf and Nice before the French Open begins on May 23rd.

Jessica Reading, head of marketing for LateRooms, commented: "Demand for the BMW Open is always significant and we recommend that anyone considering attending should book their hotel Munchen as early as possible."
