Carlsbad Department of Development: New Members Bring More Jobs to Area

The Carlsbad Department of Development is pleased to announce Toronto-based Intercontinental Potash as a new board member.

CARLSBAD, NM, June 02, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Carlsbad Department of Development (CDOD) is pleased to announce Toronto-based Intercontinental Potash as a new board member. The new potash mine promises to bring hundreds of new jobs to the Carlsbad area over the next few years.

"The success of the new mine will be calculated by the number of jobs it creates for the region," said John Waters, Executive Director for the CDOD. "While the mine itself is located just inside the Lea County line, industry history and close proximity to Carlsbad and Loving suggest that many of the projected 450 jobs will be filled by Eddy County residents and local businesses providing support to the industry should also benefit."

In addition to Intercontinental Potash, New Mexico State University-Carlsbad, Penasco Valley Telecommunications (PVT), SOS Staffing, and Denton-Wood Funeral Home all joined as members within recent months. Carlsbad Insurance Agency and Brininstool Equipment Sales re-joined as CDOD members as well. In all, the CDOD's membership is comprised of over 60 businesses within Eddy County.

"The Carlsbad Department of Development supports businesses across all industries and we are always on the lookout for companies and individuals looking to relocate or expand their interests into Eddy County, New Mexico," said Waters.

The Carlsbad Department of Development, a non-profit member supported organization, promotes the economic welfare as the economic development agency for the City of Carlsbad and Eddy County.
