Saginaw State Farm Agent Invites Public to Event Viewing Darius Cobb Paintings on July 1 from 10 AM to 2:00 PM to Celebrate Independence Day

As July 4th approaches, Fort Worth area State Farm Insurance Agent Linda Allen is offering her clients and friends a unique opportunity to view some rare historical paintings.

FORT WORTH, TX, June 17, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- As July 4th approaches, Fort Worth area State Farm Insurance Agent Linda Allen is offering her clients and friends a unique opportunity to view some rare historical paintings.

"I love to celebrate America's Independence," Allen said. "It's one of my favorite holidays, but with all the fireworks and parades and picnics, we need to stop and really think about what it is we're celebrating."

Allen found out about the paintings from Ron Sturgeon, an entrepreneur and owner of several Fort Worth commercial properties, and asked if she could display them in her Ft Worth TX insurance offices for the Fourth of July.

Both of the museum-quality paintings are by Darius Cobb, who was a well-known painter in the Boston area during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. One depicts the famous Battle of Bunker Hill, which was the first major skirmish of the Revolutionary War. The other painting portrays a lesser-known but perhaps just as important event - the evacuation of Boston Harbor - in which the British forces are driven out of Boston for good.

Some of Cobb's other works are currently on display at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts and the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio, as well as the State House in Concord, New Hampshire.

"I'm honored to have paintings of this caliber hanging in our offices," said Allen. "And the fact that they represent the struggle for American Independence makes them particularly special to me."

The paintings will be on display at Allen's State Farm office at 8101 Boat Club Road, Suite 240 in Saginaw, TX, from July 1 to July 8. Allen invites all her clients and the citizens of Fort Worth to stop by to view the paintings at a special event on July 1 from 10 am to 2 pm. Light refreshments will be served.

"Come in and have a cup of coffee with us," Allen said. "We would like to share these paintings with as many people as possible, and always welcome the opportunity to meet new people and to celebrate Independence Day."
