LateRooms.com - See The Habit of Art in London

An imagined meeting between Benjamin Britten and W H Auden is the concept for London play The Habit of Art.

LONDON, ENGLAND, July 23, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Theatregoers spending time in London hotels may wish to check out The Habit of Art during their stay in the capital.

This Alan Bennett play has received rave reviews from various publications such as the Daily Telegraph, Mail on Sunday and the Independent.

It will be performed at the Lyttelton Theatre in London until September 21st, with show times varying depending on the date chosen.

The show sees Desmond Barritt star as W H Auden and Malcolm Sinclair take on the role of Benjamin Britten in a plot that only the great Alan Bennett could have conjured up.

During the fictional story, the two famous figures from the past meet and talk about art and life.

The organisers explain that it is not just a selection of meditations on artistic endeavor, as the plot encompasses other issues.

"It reflects on growing old, on creativity and inspiration and on persisting when all passion's spent: ultimately the habit of art," they added.

The play sets its scene just after Britten had released the opera Death in Venice, when he seeks out his old friend Auden to ask for advice.

Tickets for this show start from GBP10 and are available to buy online.

Also showing at the Lyttelton Theatre this summer is After the Dance.
