Hackensack Dentist Explains the Different Sensations One will Feel When Their Tooth Aches

Hackensack dentist wants his patients to make sure that they do not have to live with the horrible feelings of tooth aches, when a simple visit to the dentist can resolve all these problems.

BOGOTA, NJ, August 19, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Anyone who has had a toothache before knows it's an unbearable pain; but a lot of people won't do anything to fix it. A tooth ache can be very uncomfortable and can cause your sleeping habits to be interrupted. There are many reason's a toothache can occur and people with a tooth ache will do just about anything to get rid of it.

Toothache and jaw pain are common complaints. A Toothache is caused by tooth or jaw problems, such as large cavities, a cracked tooth, exposure of the tooth root, gum disease, disease of the jaw joint, or spasms of the muscles used for chewing. The pain can be mild to severe. A thorough oral examination which includes dental X-rays, can help determine the cause, whether the toothache is coming from a tooth or jaw problem.

There may be severe pain to pressure, or to hot or cold stimuli. The pain may persist for longer than 15 seconds after the stimulus is removed. As the area of inflammation increases, the pain becomes more severe. It may radiate to the cheek, the ear, or the jaw. Other signs and symptoms that may lead you to seek care include the following:
- Pain with chewing
- Hot or cold sensitivity
- Bleeding or discharge from around a tooth or gums
- Swelling around a tooth or swelling of your jaw
- Injury or trauma to the area

These signs and symptoms most of the time are associated with dental decay or gum disease. Dental decay or an area of redness around the tooth's gum line may point to the source of pain. If you tap an infected tooth, it may make the pain more intense. This sign may point to the problem tooth even if the tooth appears normal. " If your tooth is aching never feel that you must live with it, yet come in and get it checked ASAP, before it get worse", says Doctor Sherzoy.
