Invisible Ink Pen Sales Skyrocket. Gadget helps protect and aid in the recovery of valuable personal property.

Top 10 Uses for Invisible Ink Pens... They can be used for fun, used in law enforcement stings, for retailer fraud prevention, access control and consumer protection.

/24-7PressRelease/ - KANSAS CITY, MO, August 23, 2006 - One of Safety and Security Source's best sellers is an Invisible Ink Pen set with a UV black light. According to Tracey Hawkins, owner, sales have spiked in time for back to school shopping. "The invisible ink pens have always been a steady seller, but online sales (www.safetyandsecuritysource.com) have increased dramatically, especially for college students. They need to mark the items in their rooms and their books to avoid confusion and to assist in recovery if the items are stolen." The pens are also good for protecting valuables at home, work, therapy, retailer fraud prevention, employee theft prevention, even for spy fun and games and more.

Law Enforcement officials advise citizens to mark their valuables as part of nationwide Operation Identification programs. Citizens are encouraged to write their driver's license numbers on valuables that are likely to be stolen. Most police departments provide Operation ID stickers to be placed on the doors and windows of the homes or businesses. Would-be thieves that see the stickers know that the valuables can be identified and typically do not want to deal with merchandise that can be traced. Property owners should register the items logging serial numbers and taking photos of the items for insurance claims. If the items are recovered, police can find the rightful owners using a UV light to see the invisible ink markings.

In the past, electric engravers have been used, however many people did not want to deface their property in case they wanted to sell it later. Invisible Ink Pens are inexpensive to own ($11.95 including the UV light) and provide thousands of permanent marks.

Hawkins who queried customers about the pen's usage has found that there are varied uses for the pens, both good and bad. "I had a therapist tell me that she planned to use the pen for the diary of a young victim of sexual assault as part of her therapy. She heard about a rape survivor who was not ready to talk about the incident, but who would write about it in invisible ink in her diary. She knew she could show it once she felt ready to share, using the UV light. She even heard about students using the pen to cheat and write answers to test questions on blank paper or their hands or arms. Overseas liquor control officials marked alcohol bottles during a sting to catch adults buying liquor for underage drinkers.

Hawkins states that she has heard of untrusting consumers marking their electronics before taking them in for repair, to make sure they get their own merchandise back. People who don't trust mechanics can mark car parts to see if they have actually been replaced.

How To Use the Invisible Ink Pen:
· Print your driver's license number with the state on valuable property.
· Mark books, print the number on the inside of cover.
· On laptops, PDA's and other electronics, mark on a plain protected or concealed surface.
· Mark cell phones inside the battery compartment.
· When you report a stolen or lost item, include information about the UV marking.
· Marking does not prevent theft. Protect valuables by not leaving them unattended.
· Do not look directly into ultraviolet light.
