Oxford Valley Mall and its more than 120 retail stores are sponsoring "The Big sMall Walk for Breast Cancer" at the mall on Saturday, October 23 starting at 7:30 am for the benefit of the Bott Cancer Center at Holy Redeemer Hospital.

LANGHORNE, PA, October 14, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Oxford Valley Mall and its more than 120 retail stores are sponsoring the "Big sMALL Walk for Breast Cancer" at the mall on Saturday, October 23 starting at 7:30 am for the benefit of The Bott Cancer Center at Holy Redeemer Hospital in Meadowbrook, PA.

The indoor Walk-A-Thon is intended to increase awareness and raise funds to combat this prevalent disease. Says Jim Malervy, Director of Marketing at the Oxford Valley Mall: "Many Walk-A-Thons are ten miles or more, but we want to make our event accessible to as many people as possible. Hence the "sMALL Walk"--it's only two miles. We want to raise awareness about breast cancer and invite everybody to participate. You can't do that with a ten mile walk."

In addition to hosting the Big sMall Walk for Breast Cancer, Oxford Valley Mall has invited Dr. Beth DuPree, an internationally recognized surgeon, author, radio host, and expert on breast cancer to greet walkers and participate in the event. Dr. DuPree is the Medical Director of the Breast Health Program at Holy Redeemer Hospital. She is a proponent of holistic healing. Dr. DuPree says, "I see the many challenges that breast cancer patients face every day, and I try to integrate numerous healing strategies that complement the medical and surgical care I provide. This may include reflexology, exercise, Yoga, medication, healthy cooking for life, energy therapies, grief counseling, and more. I am delighted to be a part of Oxford Valley Mall's program to help fight this disease."

Participants can register for the two-mile, indoor Walk-A-Thon by calling the Holy Redeemer Information and Referral Center at 1-800-818-4747 or by visiting their website at www.holyredeemer.com/events.

In mall registration will take place every Friday in the month of October until the big day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Holy Redeemer table located in the food court.
