Canvas Tarps Sales Hit a High in 2010

The sales of canvas tarps has hit a high in 2010 due to the natural disasters. The 2011 forecast seems to be more of the same.

PALMDALE, CA, December 04, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Our world has moved from one disaster to the next this year, it seems. Thousands were rendered homeless in the earthquake that ripped apart the country of Haiti. Then severe flooding did the same in Pakistan, as people struggled to find shelter from the torrential rains that continued to fall for a long period of time. More recently, tropical storms and hurricanes have been a threat to many parts of the world, some experiencing damage and loss as a result. And the most amazing benefit of canvas tarps, the fact that they are indeed waterproof has become a symbol of hope for many.

The sales for tarps have seen a record high in 2010 and 2011 appears to have similar numbers. The leading U.S. tarp supplier Tarps Plus stated, "We have had record sales on poly and canvas tarps for 2010."

Due to the natural disaster ridden 2010 the need for tarps have sky rocketed. Many people use a tarp after heavy rain or a hurricane when thier roof has been ripped off. Everyone loves water. We like to play in it, to bathe in it, to drink it. It provides sustenance for our world. However, when there is too much of it, there are severe complications. Long periods of heavy rain can result in flooding that threatens our homes and lives. And storms such as hurricanes can bring with them large amounts of water, which are inadvertently dumped onto random locations. This can cause a lot of problems. One of the larger purchaser of the tarps have been the military.

Those who have lost their homes in Haiti and Pakistan have been living under canvas tents for months. While repair and rebuilding efforts are underway, these people have no place to go, nowhere to turn. There are few structures left standing in the area, and these are overcrowded as it is. So many have made their own haven from tents and tarps that were donated as part of the relief effort. Schools are even being conducted under these temporary shelters.

Hurricanes have ripped apart buildings and left severe damage in its wake. These individuals need to find a way to cover the gaping holes in their homes and businesses until they can be repaired. If water is allowed into the building, much more damage will be caused.

The canvas tarps with grommets have been the most useful. These are waterproof and provide relief from the elements, while also being durable and lasting for a long period of time.
