Calling 'Jilted' Filmmakers The Jilted Film Festival announces its Call For Entries for its 3rd Annual Film Festival

The Jilted Film Festival - an event in lower Manhattan for comedy shorts that have been rejected by at least one festival - is now accepting entries for its third annual film festival to be held in April 2007.

/24-7PressRelease/ - BROOKLYN, NY, October 15, 2006 - Founded by Brooklyn filmmaker Mellini Kantayya, Jilted is presented by the media production company Brooklyn Tree Productions of which Ms. Kantayya is the creator and artistic/managing director.

Ms. Kantayya's first comedy short was rejected by five (count 'em FIVE) major film festivals despite belly aching laughs and rave reviews from test audiences. She found little comfort that many colleagues, all creators of brilliantly hysterical films, were experiencing the same. She vowed to avenge their collective rejection and is launching the first film festival solely for films that have been jilted by other film festivals.

"The Jilted Film Festival is definitely growing in popularity, both with filmmakers and with audiences. We receive amazing comedy shorts that seem to be slightly out of other festival parameters. Our films tend to be a little longer or shorter, quirkier, darker, or more over the top than most programmers' tastes. This is a fun campy way to celebrate the comedy short genre and the spirit of perseverance," adds Kantayya.

Each entry submitted to Jilted must be a comedy short that has been rejected from at least one film festival and cannot exceed 30 minutes. For information on how to submit your entry, please visit http://www.brooklyntree.com/Jilted.html.
