SURREY, ENGLAND, February 07, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- New survey involving 2,000 people finds many are concerned about job security, the economy and finances as the Government cuts begin to bit

- 84% are concerned about the cuts
- 77% say each month they will be worse of by up to GBP300 due to cuts
- 69% thinks the Government are with-holding the truth about the severity of planned cutbacks
- 56% are fearful of cuts affecting their jobs
- 50% believe the economy will be harmed because of cuts

27 January 2011 - With unemployment figures in the UK reaching 2.5m, thousands of employees being axed by local authorities and inflation going up to 3.7%, the new survey of 2,000 revealed many are getting increasingly concerned about the impact of the Governments Cutbacks.

The new national survey was conducted by DiscountVouchers.co.uk, which is a money saving website, and found 84% are concerned about the cut backs being made and 69% feel the Government is being dishonest about extent of planned cuts.

Simon Terry is the Director at DiscountVouchers.co.uk and stated, "Many are getting very concerned about the scale of these cuts. We have seen county councils reducing their numbers by thousands already, and with inflation going up many people are insecure and worried about the security of their jobs and their finances."

Results of the survey found 77% believed they will be up to GBP300 worse off each month because of cutbacks; 11% revealed they expect to be worse off each month by up to GBP1000; with only 10% saying they did not think they would be impacted financially.

Also 56% revealed that they had concerns about how safe their jobs were due to the cuts, 63% said either they or someone they knew who worked in the public sector were worried about the ongoing future of their positions.

With many being worried about their jobs and money situations the survey found life changing events and big purchases were being put off by many. For example, 40% will not be going ahead with home improvement at the moment; 38% will not be going on holiday or buying a new car; 22% have put off moving house; 17% have chosen not to change their jobs; 7% will delay having a baby; and 7% have postponed wedding plans.

Simon added, "The peoples concerns are coming from not fully knowing how these cutbacks will impact them. Most of the people we spoke to are getting ready for some tough times in the future as they do not believe the Government is telling the whole truth about the extent of the cuts."

When survey participants were asked where they think cuts should actually be made, they revealed, policing (8%); the NHS (10%); education (9%); public services like waste collection (14%); armed forces (21%); local councils (41%); and the benefit system (68%). Other areas they thought cut backs should be made included MP expenses and salaries and banker and quangos bonuses.

The survey also found that 50% feel the British economy will be harmed by the cuts, 46% however, felt it was necessary. 37% said they felt it was not needed at all.
