Schuh: Nice Weather for Espadrilles?

In the depths of a UK winter find out whether the public are buying wellies or espadrilles.

LIVINGSTON, SCOTLAND, February 27, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- As the cold weather continues and snow warnings seem to be issued on a weekly basis we all turn to our winter wardrobes and make sure we are stocked up on hats, scarves and welly boots or so you may think.... Schuh have discovered a little surprise in their latest best sellers list, it seems that in this cold snap everyone is wearing espadrille brand TOMS.

You wouldn't think that the rubber soled, canvas espadrilles would be a customers first choice of footwear in the current climate yet over the past few weeks Schuh have seen hundreds of pairs of TOMS fly (or should that be walk?) out of their warehouse. Although usual winter favourites Ugg boots and Hunter wellies continue to sell in large volumes too it seems that Toms Shoes are the unusual favourite at present.

Perhaps the appeal of the brand is the feel-good factor they give when purchased as the LA based company have made the unique pledge that for every pair of TOMS sold they will give a pair of shoes to a child in the third world. The brand have also gained some celebrity fans too such as Ashton Merrygold from JLS and Louis Tomlinson from One Direction was regularly spotted in his TOMS while performing on the X Factor.

TOMS are a purse friendly GBP33 and are available in a range of colours for ladies and gents. The brand also have some great prints that will hit stores in early spring, when Schuh are lucky to get an exclusive camouflage print shoe.

About Schuh: Schuh is the UK's largest online footwear retailer with 78 store and concessions around the UK and Ireland. Schuh is this year celebrating it's 30th birthday with support from some of it's top selling brands like Converse, Vans shoes and Irregular Choice.
