PokerListings.com and CardRunners Team Up for Exclusive, Free Poker Strategy Series

PokerListings.com, the world's largest online poker guide, is teaming up with CardRunners, the world's leading online poker training site, to bring amateur poker players an exclusive, free, user-driven 10-part poker strategy series.

VALLETTA, MALTA, March 01, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- PokerListings.com, the world's largest online poker guide, is teaming up with CardRunners, the world's leading online poker training site, to bring amateur poker players an exclusive, free, user-driven 10-part poker strategy series.

How did it come to be and how will it work?

Late last year, PokerListings.com put out a virtual suggestion box via the PokerListings blog, Facebook and Twitter and then handpicked the 10 most interesting user-suggested strategy topics.

The topic list was then passed on to CardRunners, who handpicked 10 coaches from its elite roster and let them pick the topics they were best suited to write about.

Each of the CR coaches has a different poker story and a different poker skill set, and this series was designed to let the coaches bring their specific experience to bear on the topic of their choice.

"It's tough to find a poker strategy topic that hasn't been written to death," said PokerListings.com Editor-in-Chief Matt Showell.

"By letting these coaches approach the topics in terms of their real-life experiences, we're hoping to create a more authentic and rich strategy series for our readers."

CardRunners has assembled the biggest and most diverse stable of poker coaches online and this strategy project will give everyone a free taste of the kind of high-end instruction they have to offer.

Matthew Janda, one of the CardRunners coaches participating in the project, is quick to point out the value of these detailed, personal strategy-based articles.

"One isolated hand history, article, or video is unlikely to immediately be extremely helpful to an amateur player," he told PokerListings.com. "But the sum of them all will slowly but surely turn you into a stronger player."

The first list of topics has been finalized and is listed below:

1. Managing Your First Big Score
2. How to Be a Poker Pro
3. Best Home Game Variant You Don't Know
4. Using Live Tournaments as Vacations
5. Tracking Software for Noobs
6. Badugi Basics
7. US vs. European Poker Sites
8. Push/Fold Tournament Strategy Part 1
9. Push/Fold Tournament Strategy Part 2
10. PLO Strategy Grab Bag

Confirmed Cardrunners Coaches who will each write an article in the series:

- Matthew 'mindcirkus' Wheat
- John "Nicolak" Kim
- James 'DZoo" Hart
- Steve 'electrical' Albini
- Bryan "PrimordialAA" Pelligrino
- Matthew Janda
- Mike "Predator006" Six
- Samer "Braminc" Khuri

Each week, beginning Feb. 21, a new coach will post his piece and PokerListings.com will cross that topic off the list.

Two articles in this series have been posted:

Being Responsible with your First Big Poker Score from coach John "Nikolak" Kim, and Swingo: The Best Home Poker Game Variant You've Never Heard Of by Steve Albini.
