iDEAL was launched in 2005 by the Dutch Banks an alternative payment system that lets online shoppers from the Netherlands authorize online payments from their current account through their bank's online banking site.

Consumers who already have online banking can start using iDEAL right away, and merchants that use 2000Charge can start offering it.
A record total of 8,864,549 transactions were made using iDEAL last month, making it the most popular online payment method in the Netherlands.
