/24-7PressRelease/ - Austin, TX, September 05, 2008 - As the world begins preparation for the next FIFA World Cup, the Zimbabwe and Malawi football teams celebrated victories in recent World Cup qualifying matches. These matches were played on Xtreme Turf synthetic pitches, which were manufactured and installed by ACT Global Sports. The Xtreme Turf has received rave reviews from players and national coaches.

The use of artificial turf for top-level sporting events continues to grow around the world. FIFA plays a large part of this growth through its international standard for football (soccer) turf as well as investing in development projects around the world. In Africa, FIFA sponsored the renovation of the playing surfaces at Rufaro Stadium (Zimbabwe) and Kamuzu Stadium (Malawi).

ACT Global Sports, a licensee of the FIFA Quality Concept, was selected to replace the natural grass surface with an artificial one that would meet the requirements of international FIFA matches. Chris Clapham, Director of ACT Global Sports, comments, "FIFA is making large scale investments to develop football in Africa, and we are pleased to be selected for these projects. We thank the Malawi and Zimbabwe Football Federations for their support on these challenging projects."
