SEO Training - What to Look For When Considering an SEO Training Course

Discover the top considerations of students whom have selected and attended an SEO training course. Find out what worked and didn't work in the SEO training they selected.

CARLSBAD, CA, March 24, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sheldon Blake, a IT recruiter based in Nashville, Tennessee recently told me that the one skill that employers wished more candidates had was Search Engine Optimization. He said it's easily an additional $15,000 to $25,000 per year in salary for candidates with experience ins SEO to whom hold a SEO Certification.

With cash like that up for grabs it's no wonder SEO Training is such a popular topic in today's IT market. Add those stats to the number one skill that allow small businesses and websites to compete with the large corporate giants and their endless supply of marketing capitol and you begin to see why small business and website owners as well as career minded employees are filling seminars and online SEO training classes across the country in droves.

We recently interviewed fifty professionals form Mr. Blake's pool of resources whom recently taken and completed a SEO training or Certification class along with twenty small business owners and web masters whom are dependent on their incomes generated by sales or leads directly related to the exposure to their website(s). We asked them what they valued and looked for most when selecting a SEO Training program and what differences they would have changed after completing the course.

Listed below are the items in order of importance we found that most considered when selecting their SEO training.

1. Affordability - While keeping reputation and experience in-mind... students were looking to make their SEO training as cost effective as possible.

2. Professionalism and Experience - Most wanted to be instructed by professional and experienced SEO specialists

3. Convenience - With today's hectic schedules, most wanted an SEO training course that was easy to attend.

4. Accredited - Students whom were already employed wanted a course that offered CEUs to get their employer to reimburse them for their SEO training.

5. Real World or Hands On - We found most students wanted to take a SEO training program that allowed them to implement the "book work" into real-world applications to ensure they truly understood SEO.

Top items most wished they could change or ruled out a SEO Training provider because of these factors.

1. TRAVEL - With today's online training and meeting platforms, most didn't want to have to sacrifice their weekend or a full week in some hotel taking a seminar based SEO training course. Unless of course the boss was picking up the tab, in this case - PARTY ON DUDE!.

Dashon Williams of Sarasota, FL said: "In keeping the expenses down to add this skill set to my resume, if I took a seminar-based SEO training course I would have accrued the cost of travel and loading expenses on top of the course cost itself. Besides, having a traditional "physical location" class in this day and age is like riding a horse and carriage to town. There are just far too many faster and more convenient options available with the use of modern broadband and online training advancements in today's techno wonder age."

2. THE GURU TRAINING - A few students got taught up in signing up for and taking a course from one of those self proclaimed "Seminar" online gurus. The few that ran into this catastrophe said it was nothing more than a fluff course in how to market and sell the "products" that they had selected for you to earn a living from home with. And of course all these products were "business opportunities" or "net work marketing" so called products. Nothing really more than a cleverly hidden pyramid scheme. Yes, they approached and discussed the basic SEO, but it was all in the context of how to promote and spread the word about THEIR PRODUCTS...

One of the small business owners we interviewed was extremely pleased with what he'd learned during his week-long live online SEO training. Jason Houston, the owner and operator of a small boutique fishing resort on the border of Belize and Mexico completed his SEO training in late October of 2010. Since implementing the training and methods he learned while attending a training course by Aperio Training & Education systems. He's improved his rankings to include front page top of the page placement in Google with all his major keywords and phrases. this he said has made all the difference. "I'm now completely booked typically four to five months in advance. Prior to working on his websites SEO, he said a "good month was half capacity." - Jason and his Bite Me Belize.com website are now producing up to eighty to ninety fishermen wanting to book fishing per month. And at $1,000 per fisherman he and his business partner and wife Kay are extremely happy with that improvement.

If you're looking for SEO training that works we would recommend you begin doing your research and looking into the more reputable and accredited SEO training providers. And remember, select a SEO training course that fits your needs the best. Be it online, or a class room setting at a local university. Many universities now offer their classes 100% online thus reducing cost and overhead and providing more cost effective training to students.
