    PHUKET, THAILAND, April 14, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The date of the event is decided by the time of the full moon in the lunar month of Vesakha so it does change annually. This year it will take place from 4th to 10th May 2011 and all over South Korea people celebrate with colourful displays and ceremonies at temples.

Jeju holds special activities including a procession of Buddha images and children can often be seen dressed as Buddhist deities as part of the displays. Monks will lead some of the parades and everyone is free to attend the ceremonies at temples to pay their respects and join in with the prayers and chanting.

For the week the festival of activities run day and night while in the evening the floats carrying the images are lit up in amazing colour and visitors can see the spectacular detail that goes into the creation of each design.

Buddha's birthday is a busy time on the island as tourists come to see the parades and this often causes problems in getting a hotel in Jeju over the week.
